When there are too many awesome places in one of the greatest cities in the world, we had to do it all! It was a sunny day (the sun from San Diego tends to follow me) so we had to started off with an angle of the clear skyline, Potrero Hill. I just love the layers of buildings. This thriving city just gets more and more compact!
SF is also known for its funky beautiful victorian architecture and we decided to capture that at Alamo Square (famous for the “Full House” opening scene). Of course, it was super touristy (even on a weekday), but I was able to find higher grounds for their shots.
Next up, Angela & Derrick really wanted to go back to Lowell High School where they first dated, yes we have another rare pair of high school sweet hearts! It was really sentimental retracing their footsteps where they asked each other out for prom or hung out at the lockers.
As the sun got lower and lighting softer, I needed more greens so we stopped by Stow lake at Golden Gate Park. The interesting thing about SF is its higher level of humidity, especially in the parks. The combination of mist in the air with sun rays gave me one of my favorite things to photograph, volumetric lighting! Contrast that with an everlasting love and we have magic.
Lastly, we hadddd to finish off with the Golden Gate Bridge somewhere. There are so many places to photograph this icon bridge and I decided Presidio Park’s perspective would make for some fun composition! And that’s a wrap… thank you Angela and Derrick for letting me third wheel with you on the SF engagement tour 🙂
Shout out to my girl Celia from Big Day Service ! I can’t wait to work with her again on Angela & Derrick’s wedding because she is an absolute amazing coordinator who can plan and execute with precision!

Stephen and Kristen is the definition of making a relationship work over any distance. Over 8 years ago, Kristen unexpectedly met Stephen during his birthday celebration in Las Vegas. Where many would consider anyone you meet in that scene, a mere-less fling, it became the greatest birthday gift of all for Stephen!! From then, they would spend months flying back and forth to see each other between San Diego and the Bay Area. It wasn’t long until their relationship became a flight calendar where they would look forward to meeting each other in other cities. When Stephen finally popped the question to Kristen at the iconic hearts in SF, they finally joined forces in San Diego!
I actually had the opportunity of photographing this adorable couple together in 2013 when they won a Valentine Contest I used to host. (I’ll post some at the end of this post!) All their friends and family gathered and campaign for them to win so its pretty clear how much everyone loves them! Being their wedding photographer will be an honor and I can’t be more excited!
We chose Glamis Sand Dunes for their engagement session location! At first, we were challenged by the start of ATV season! But Stephen and Kristen were troopers and we all hiked far into the unspoiled lands across the street. We literally walked into a painting and I was having the best time playing with the compositions as the light slowly changed. Behold, we were blessed with the most beautiful cotton candy sunset that glowed over the sand. It’s any photographer’s dream situation and I’m happy to have shared the moment with Kristen and Stephen!

From flourishing gardens, green hilltops, and romantic arches next to the sea, the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines had it all for Patrick and Irean! Weddings can be stressful and full of expectations, but these two tackled the day like a breath of fresh air. They’re soooo silly together and truly lived in the moment. It was an honor photographing their wedding because I could tell all their guests just adored them. It was all about the love they shared for each other and everyone around them. Another big reason why everything went so well was because of all the talented vendors who went above and beyond for the happy couple!

Sometimes its nice to hop in a car and get away from all the hustle and bustle. For Californians, thats what the deserts are for. All my trips to Joshua Tree National Park are unique because this park is huge and there’re so many different places to explore. Sidney and Zac got to climb boulders, gaze over mountain ranges, and dance along the infamous Joshua Trees. They moved their lives out to the west coast for adventurous and romantic moments like these. I think they’re such youthful, old souls mates!

You know you’ve found the one when that person simply makes you laugh and brings you joy in the smallest ways. That’s all I witnessed when photographing Joanne and Mark’s adorable engagement session at Presidio Park and Sunset Cliffs. Their chemistry was literally bubbling! I love how they’re constantly drawn towards each other’s touch as I guide them through each pose. It was effortless. From the way he tightly embraces her to the way she giggles, they’re seriously #relationshipgoals!Â
